Research Interests

My current research interests include studying the emergence of new collaborations through team assembly. I merge perspectives from social networks, organizational behavior, and computational social science to understand this phenomenon. One of my main projects focuses on the invitation process inherent to team assembly, i.e. the network that is created when people invite others to their team. Another project investigates different strategies that may be used to search a network when assembling problem-solving teams. Some of my previous research explored the emergent collaboration practices in Wikipedia around a social movement. I have also studied topics related to team mental models and shared cognition in small, isolated work teams.

Project Contributions

  • My Dream Team: Analyzing patterns of online behavior within team assembly technology
  • NASA SCALE: Modeling the dynamics of shared team mental models in long distance space exploration (LDSE) analogue missions
  • 6DOS: Developing instructional materials for administration and use of software platform
  • 3D NetScope: Designing a web-based experiential learning exercise to teach concepts from organizational network analysis
