Bálint Néray

Balint is working with Michelle Birkett, Assistant Professor of Medical Social Sciences at the Feinberg School of Medicine, across several projects related to Network Science and disparities in HIV. He will be working in SONIC one day per week on the joint project netCanvas: Development, Hardening, and  Dissemination of a Software Suite for the Collection of Complex Network and Contextual Data in HIV and Drug Research.

Education: Ph.D. in Sociology at the Corvinus University of Budapest; worked as a research associate at the Social Network Analysis Research Center at the Università della Svizzera italiana. In 2014 he completed a Fulbright Research Fellowship at Duke University.

Role:  Balint hopes to contribute to the analysis of ego-centric networks essential in understanding the social mechanisms through which HIV-spread operates.

Interests: racial and ethnic identity formation, its consequences on interpersonal tie-formation and relational integration among school kids
