Planning Knowledge Networks for Scaling Up Impact
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation: Family Health Division Grant 1084322
The concept of ‘scaling up’ has become increasingly popular as donors have acknowledged with concern the relatively poor record of innovative pilot projects in extending connect between the project and outcomes. The purpose of this project is to map the knowledge networks, attitudes, organizational resources, and knowledge of government officials, development partner officials, and program employees in several districts in Bihar at the outset of a campaign to reduce the rates of infant mortality, fertility, and malnutrition and to increase immunization coverage.
Our objectives include:
a. To administer a survey designed to map the knowledge networks of government officials, development partner officials, and program employees, determine existing attitudes and knowledge about identified intervention strategies, and better understand the organizational context in which the campaign interventions will be implemented.
b. To replicate six classic experiments about the effectiveness of several persuasion scenarios in India.
c. To create two cases studies of health sub-center platforms for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM), Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA), and Anganwadi Workers (AWW) to better understanding how knowledge and implementation networks function and the process of innovation implementation.
