The Science of Networks in Communities (SONIC) research group

The Science of Networks in Communities (SONIC) research group advances social network theories, statistical and computational methods, and networking tools to describe, understand, predict, and prescribe the emergence of optimal social and knowledge networks.
SONIC seeks to understand how networks – increasingly comprising human and AI agents – form and perform in diverse contexts, including business, scientific communities, healthcare, and space travel.  Lab Director Noshir Contractor’s research has been funded continuously for 30 years by the U.S. National Science Foundation with additional funding from the U.S. National Institutes of Health, NASA, DARPA, Army Research Laboratory, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
