Bio:

Aaron Shaw is Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Northwestern University and a Faculty Associate of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. At Northwestern, Aaron directs the Media, Technology & Society program and holds affiliations with the Institute for Policy Research and the Buffett Center for Global Studies. Aaron studies collective action, collaboration, and mobilization online. Most of his current research uses large-scale datasets to identify organizational factors that determine whether peer production projects (like Wikipedia) and other open collectives online grow or not. He also conducts research into the role of social interaction and communication in shaping online participation inequalities and crowd-based systems design.
